History

Year	Details
1969	Woodbine Gardens Branch officially opened by the East York Public Library Board, April. Located in Harmony Hall, Gower Street near Dawes Road. Harmony Hall was built in 1967 by the East York Barbershop Chorus for their own use and for seniors and other community groups.
1975	Woodbine Gardens branch closed 15 December. Relocated to the present location.
1976	Dawes Road Branch opened on January 2, 1976, the first library in Canada that is part of a condominium.
2001	Exterior refurbishing by York Condominium Corporations #260.
2002	Closed 20 August for renovation; reopened 17 December.
2007	New hours, 8 January. Open hours per week increased from 48.5 to 50.5.

Dawes Road is on Indigenous land. This is the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee (ho-den-oh-sho-nee) Confederacy (aka. the Six Nations Confederacy), the Wendat, and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Toronto Public Library gratefully acknowledges these Indigenous nations for their guardianship of this land. The Six Nations Confederacy), the Anishinaabek (Ah-nish-nah-bek) and allied nations, to peaceably share and care for this land, its waters, and all of the biodiversity in the Great Lakes region.
