Summary/Review: "This is the story of the lonely inhabitants of the edge of Botswana's enormous and desolate Pans. The elusive Brown Hyena lives here all year round, but it's territory is visited by flamingoes, wildebeest, zebra, and smaller antelopes During the dry season, time is challenging for the hyena, but when the brief rains spur on the flash floods, the pans come alive with birds and mammals, which in turn are followed by hunters. It is a story of survival in a harsh land and making the most of its resources. Nothing goes to waste, and the hyena eats anything it can scavenge, bringing back skin, bones, and feathers to line its den, which is home to a small litter of pups. We will follow this elusive and endangered animal and take a glimpse into its struggle for survival"--Container.
