Piano Practice Rooms

Need a place to practice the piano? Four library branches have facilities available free of charge: North York Central Library, Oakwood Village Library and Arts Centre, Parkdale and Toronto Reference Library.

All can be booked in advance with the exception of Toronto Reference Library where it is on a first-come, first-served basis.

North York Central Library

One piano in the Piano Room on the 2nd Floor (Creation Loft).

Booking: The room can be booked for 1 hour per day per person, in predetermined time slots (users can keep the room for longer if no one is waiting). Book in person in the Fabrication Studio on the 2nd floor, or by calling 416-395-5654. A valid Toronto Public Library card is required to book the Piano Room.

Reservations may be made up to 7 days in advance. Reservations are held for 10 minutes so please make sure you arrive on time. Maximum room occupancy: 2 people.

At the end of the session, you need to lock the room and return the key to the Fabrication Studio before picking up your library card.

Oakwood Village Library and Arts Centre

One Yamaha full-size electric piano in a meeting room on the lower level, available for bookings Monday through Saturday, during library hours (until 30 minutes prior to closing).

Booking: When the next-door auditorium is not in use, customers may book up to 2 hours per day, to a maximum of twice per week, with a valid library card or ID. One adult customer at a time. Minors need to be accompanied by a parent. Call the branch at 416 394-1040 to book for current week only.

Toronto Reference Library

Two Yamaha electric piano keyboards in a non-soundproofed practice room (headphone use is required) on the 5th floor.

Booking: first-come, first-served for 30 minutes (or longer if no one else is waiting).
