Chaos: A riot at Maplehurst Correctional Centre in Milton - during which 18 convicts escaped from the facility - left the interior of the jail in turmoil. More than $95;000 worth of recreational equipment was smashed. Seven of the escapers were recaptured.

Jail a shambles: Before breaking out of Maplehurst correctional centre; 18 prisoners caused an estimated $75;000 damage to the centre's gym. They started the riot by throwing chairs at the jail guards about an hour after a movie; Escape to Athena; began in the gym and apparently gave them the idea.
