It's a long walk along the slowly-moving assembly line at the Oshawa South plant of General Motors; where the vast; linked buildings cover 165 acres. To save time getting from one place to another; workers ride bicycles along controlled pathways. The company experimented first with golf carts but found the bikes more flexible.

Glittering in the bright winter sunlight; hundreds of automobile bumpers are stockpiled in the yard of Houdaille Oshawa Ltd. on Simcone St. in Oshawa; watched over by guard Bert Stinson; who directs traffic through the yard. The company stamps and plates bumpers for the big automobile manufacturers and this is a supply of them awaiting shipment; most of them to the U.S.
