The new subway's a big bore. Two 75-ton boring machine are ready at Spadina Rd. and Davenport Rd. to be lowered into the ground and pushed along as the tunnel progresses under Casa Loma for the Spadina subway. The machine shield the men working in the tunnel and eliminate the need for shoring up at the work face. Subway is to open in 1977.

A horse-drawn surrey carried Premier William Davis and other dignitaries to official opening yesterday of second half of TTC's North Yonge subway extension. The 10-mile run from Finch Ave; to Union Station will take 25 minutes.

A subway station is what this 75-year-old house on Spadina Rd.just north of Bloor St. will become. The Toronto Transit Commission has decided to use the house as an entrance to the Spadina subway line instead of demolishing it. The Toronto Historical Board had listed the house for its architectural interest and its importance to the streetscape. Toronto Mayor David Crombie calls the ruling victory.
