York Woods Branch Renovation

York Woods Branch has been a valued part of your community since 1970.

Toronto Public Library is preparing plans to renovate the branch to revitalize all of its public spaces, to improve operational efficiency and delivery of service that meets the needs of the community.

About the Renovation

At the June Toronto Public Library Board meeting, the library board approved the closure of the York Woods branch for approximately 24 months for a major renovation. The branch closed at the end of the day on Saturday, September 21, 2019.

There will be regular communication and reporting to all stakeholders at key milestones throughout the project.

Service During the Closure

During the closure, the library will provide service in a 3,000 square foot space on the concourse level of the Yorkgate Mall, at the northwest corner of Jane and Finch. The telephone number is 416-395-0768.

Yorkgate Mall pop-up hours

Please note that access to the computers, physical collection, seated study and printing/photocopying is only available between 9:00 am and 2:45 pm Monday to Friday, and 9 am and 5 pm on Saturday.

From 3:30 pm to 7 pm on Monday to Friday, the pop-up will be providing Youth Hub services exclusively. Customers may only enter the branch to participate in the Youth Hub or to pick up available holds.

Browsing the collection, seated study and photocopying/printing services will resume after 7 pm. There will be no computer access after 7 pm.

The Rita Cox Black and Caribbean Heritage Collection has been relocated to Downsview during the renovation.

Community Outreach

During the renovation, York Woods staff will continue to provide programming at alternate locations in the community. Please call Answerline at 416-393-7131 for a list of programs at alternate locations.
