During the residency, a children's book illustrator presents workshops, art activities and portfolio reviews for adults, teens and children. The Illustrator in Residence Program honours the memory of Illustrator Joanne Fitzgerald (1956-2011).
About Soyeon Kim

Soyeon Kim is an Ontario-based, Korean-born artist and educator who has illustrated several children’s books. She studied Visual Arts and Education at York University and received the Amelia Frances Howard-Gibbon Illustrator’s Award for You Are Stardust. Soyeon participated in TD Book Week 2018, visiting schools and libraries in Northern British Columbia. In 2017, Soyeon was invited to Adelaide Writers’ Week in Australia for the Kids’ Weekend. There, she worked with families to create a collaborative mural based on You Are Stardust.
Portfolio Review Meetings
Book a one-on-one 30-minute online portfolio review with Soyeon Kim and receive feedback on your illustrations. Portfolio reviews are available on the Mondays October 4, 18 and 25 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. For adults and teens.

Workshops
Hear Soyeon Kim discuss topics important to aspiring children's book illustrators including the journey to becoming an illustrator, building and improving your portfolio and the process of illustrating children’s books. At the end of the month, join in as Soyeon hosts a live demo.
Class Visits
Soyeon Kim will visit classes virtually to lead fun illustration activities. Available to elementary (grade 2-6), high school and college classes October 1 - October 28.
