Imagination is the Limit

August 2018

With the exception of Fortnite (hottest game craze ever?), almost all of the best games that have come out in the past couple of years have had something in common: they're open-world.
Open-world means your avatar or character gets to explore the environment around them with almost no boundaries or behind-the-scenes coding to limit what they can do.

Games like Minecraft, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, and the long-awaited No Man's Sky all have this in common.

This brings me to an open-world game that I am currently obsessed with called The Witness. In this game you are the lone inhabitant of a mysterious and beautiful island that you can roam and explore at will. Before long you encounter maze-like puzzles that become increasingly more difficult to solve. It's challenging, addictive, and it feels awesome when you figure out the puzzles.

It's technically a one-player game, but my advice? Play with a friend - it helps to have two minds at work because it's all about perspective!

It's available on a variety of platforms and the cost is great for how many hours of gameplay you get out of it. Have fun exploring!
