History

1975	Opened by the North York Public Library Board, 20 November. Joseph Gerskup Architect.
1993	Retrofitted.
1995	Park area created on open space on east side of library. Plaque installed recognizing the contribution of Campbell B. Hughes (1913-1990).
1998	Weekly hours increased from 40 to 59 for duration of Fairview Renovation closure (23 March to 20 July).
2005	Retrofitted 31 October to 21 November.
2007	New hours, 8 January. Number of open hours per week unchanged.
2011	Launched Express Checkout on 18 January.

Hillcrest is on Indigenous land.
