Can you change the world with a bicycle, a shovel, or a dozen muffins? You might be surprised!

Michelle is the author of Going Wild: Helping Nature Thrive in Cities (one of the recommended reads for the TD Summer Reading Club). Her nonfiction books for kids celebrate creative ways that people look after the planet and each other.

Participants will steer the discussion in the "Hidden Riches" game, where simple tools (like those bicycles, shovels and muffins) can help create big change, both here in the city and around the world! We'll talk about how stories are central to activism, and how we can make our stories grip our readers. In a fun, interactive way, we'll cover: developing an idea, research, writing, narrative voice, and revision, with a special focus on how she came to write Going Wild and the fun facts she learned while writing it!

For ages 8-12.

Register in person in the Children's Department or by calling 416-396-3718.
