Métis siblings Alyssa and Conlin Delbaere-Sawchuk were born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and have nurtured a passion for music from an early age. Building on their foundations in classical music studies, they mentored with Aboriginal elders from across Canada to develop their repertoire of Indigenous Canadian fiddle music. Their family's debut album North West Voyage Nord Ouest won best traditional album at the 2012 Canadian Folk Music Awards.

Conlin and Alyssa have performed their music for audiences across Canada and internationally; from intimate settings in libraries, museums and schools, to festivals and events such as: the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, the National Aboriginal Achievement Awards, the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian Gala, the Mariposa Folk Festival, and the Alianait festival in Iqaluit, Nunavut. Recent performances by the group include: the 2015 Parapan Am games opening ceremony, as well as La Grande Gigue, a collaboration with the Caprice Baroque Ensemble for the 2016 Montreal Baroque Festival, and the opening ceremonies for the 2017 North American Indigenous Games.

Northern District is thrilled to host a performance from Conlin and Alyssa this May. All are very welcome to attend. Call 416-393-7610 for more information.
