Christine Newman has been an LGBTQ activist and advocate for over 35 years and an advocate for mental health/injury for over 20 years. Her writing appears in a number of online and printed publications including Living Toronto, Gender Fabulous! Magazine and Queer Voices. She is a contributor to Cuarenta y Nueve, a tribute to to the 49 murdered at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Her wordpress blog is where she posts musings, feedback from her lectures and shares her story through her writing.

The annual Local Wordsmith event showcases St. Lawrence residents who use their writing to tell their stories and pass on their message.
