Notes

Inscribed in pencil, vso c.: Highlanders leading funeral / procession of / Sgt John Urquhart / Prospect cemetery. Ontario Provincial Police Sergeant John Urquhart was shot and killed by bandit Leo Rogers near North Bay, 30 May 1923. He was buried 1 June, the Toronto police pipe band meeting the funeral at the cemetery gates. One of a group of prints most of which were reproduced in 'The Globe', 1922-4: this one evidently was not.
