Caption 1: Beating stress on the Bruce Trail/H17 Caption 2: Tips for the easy hiker If you're keen to start hiking along the Bruce Trail, Mary Munro, executive director of the Bruce Trail Association, advises a modest beginning. Before spending a lot of money on equipment, try a day-long hike, perhaps at the loop trail at Hilton Falls in North Halton, or in the Terra Cotta and Forks of the Credit areas north of Brampton. You'll need sensible shoes with a grip sole, perhaps several pairs of socks to cushion your feet, and enough clothing to keep you warm and dry if the weather changes. Naturally, she adds, to get involved with other hikers you should join your local Bruce Trail hiking club for a family membership fee of $10. Caption 3: Rescuing the Bruce Trail After a heated dispute between hikers and farmers, fulled by government expropriation threats, Ontario's great wilderness way may be saved by a new spirit of conciliation.
