New packaging plant: Excavation work has begun at Brantford for this $1.5 million plant to manufacture plastic for food packaging. The plant is being built by Toronto-based Cryovac, a division of W.R. Grace and Co. of Canada Ltd. It will heat up the packaging competition between plastics and paper with a product called oriented polystrene sheet. Used in conjunction with "shrink films" in food field, styrenes "promise to become front runners in Canada's $1 billion packaging race," said Cryovac. It's been importing from U.S.
