Proposed co-operative plant
Modelled along the lines of the Danish co-operative companies, which have been in successful operation for the past 40 years, the newly organized First Co-operative Co. of Ontario intends erecting the above plant at Barrie to be ready by next fall. The plant and equipment for the manufacture of pork products, it is estimated, will cost in the neighborhood of $450,000, this amount to be secured from the farmers of Simcoe county. Thomas Olsen, inset, a native of Denmark, and former superintendent of pork operations at the Harris abattoir, Toronto, has made an extensive study of the Danish co-operative system and has been appointed general manager of the organization.
