Oliver D. Bales house

Picture, 1959,

Lot 14 (western half), Con. 1 east. Oliver Douglas Bales house, on the north east corner of the 401 and Yonge Street, pictured here four years after the highway’s construction. The house is shown here after renovations that enlarged the second storey and extended the porch. Visible in the background is the McLean-Hunter Printing Plant. Joseph Bales acquired land on lot 14, con. 1 east in 1888, passing it on to his son, Oliver in 1896. The house and land were sold in 1960, and the building was demolished shortly after.
