Library's volume of the magazine has a variant state (bound as frontis. to vol. 3, January - June, 1814) with additional inscription in the plate, b.: Engraved for the Analectic Magazine Published by M. Thomas / Entered according to act of Congress 21 Feb. 1814. Probably after the portrait by John Wesley Jarvis (American, 1780-1840), c. 1813, in New York City Hall. Commodore Issac Chauncey (1772-1840) commanded the American naval forces on Lake Erie and Ontario during the War of 1812, capturing York (Toronto) in April 1813. AUG 4 1987
