Summary/Review: Meet the woman Erik Bruhn said, "gave the world a new idea of the ballerina in 19th-century Romantic ballets." Learn about the life of Carla Fracci, the legendary Italian ballerina and actress! In this gem of a documentary, filmmaker Renato Pugina followed Carla Fracci for a year, giving us an unprecedented view into the artist's life, on and off the stage. Enjoy footage of Fracci from rehearsals and performances over the course of her entire career and dancing some of her greatest roles. Experience Fracci's tenacity, determination, and incredible passion for her art, and meet a woman as friendly and approachable as she is talented! Born in Milan in 1936, Carla Fracci is not only the world's most famous Italian ballerina but also a true legend. Yet her career began almost by accident at Milan's Teatro alla Scala Dance School, from which she graduated in 1954. She went on to work with some of the 20th century's greatest dancers--including Erik Bruhn, Rudolf Nureyev, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and George Iancu--and choreographers--including Georges Balanchine and John Cranko--in the world's greatest theaters and with the most important dance companies. She also fought to bring dance to less populated areas and to tailor it to a vast public.
