CANCELLED. The iconic Hagia Sophia that dominates the Istanbul skyline is a classic case of ?if at first you don?t succeed try, try again?. Receiving 3 million visitors annually, the building was the third attempt at a church commissioned by Justinian II in 532 CE. This talk reveals some features of this incredible structure and traces the ingenuity of the Ottomans as they converted it from church to mosque thereby ensuring its existence.
