Indigenous Writers' Gathering: Race, Representation and Reconciliation

Tue Oct 23, 2018
7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
60 mins

Toronto Reference Library
Bram & Bluma Appel Salon

When writer Tracey Lindberg (author of Birdie) wrote on the #NativeTwitter feed:

Dear Universe. Please get Katherena Vermette, Cherie Dimaline and myself to talk about Canada Reads, Race and Representation in one room. Soon.

apparently the universe was listening because Cherie Dimaline (author of The Marrow Thieves and founder of the Indigenous Writers Gathering) jumped on it and made it happen.

Three Indigenous writers (Lindberg and Dimaline are joined by Katherena Vermette, author of The Break) discuss their experiences as Canada Reads finalists or winners.

This event is part of Indigenous Celebrations at the TPL, where we celebrate First Nations, Métis and Inuit heritage by presenting Indigenous storytelling and literature.

Toronto Public Library would like to thank Cherie Dimaline for her work on the Indigenous Writers Gathering over the years. Thank you, Cherie, for all your vision, initiative and drive!

This event is FREE, but registration is required to attend. Please click on the ticketing link below to reserve your tickets.
