What is a Book Club Set?

A Book Club Set is a set of multiple copies (up to 15) of one title for use by book clubs and book discussion groups. When you pick up a set, you will be given a guide providing reviews, a plot summary and questions to stimulate discussion.

Who can borrow Book Club Sets?

Book Club Sets can be borrowed by any book club. Members of the club with a valid Toronto Public Library card can check out a single copy or several copies of a title for distribution to club members.

Can Book Club Sets be reserved in advance?

Yes. Contact the branch that owns the set you are interested in and staff will reserve it for your book club. Be sure to tell the staff where you would like to pick your set up. It is not possible to place holds on Book Club Sets through our website.

Where can Book Club Sets be picked up?

Sets can be picked up at any of the branches on the list above. They can also be picked up at Bloor/Gladstone branch.

Where can Book Club Sets be returned?

Sets should be returned to the same branch from which they were borrowed.

Who is responsible for returning Book Club Sets?

The person who borrows a book or books in a Book Club set is responsible for returning them to the branch from which they were borrowed. It is important to return all books in a Book Club Set on time as other book clubs may have reserved the set.

How long can book clubs keep a Book Club Set?

Book Club Sets can be borrowed for six weeks.

Can Book Club Sets be renewed?

No. Books in Book Club Sets cannot be renewed.
