Program Proposals

Service Update:

No service updates at this time.

Toronto Public Library welcomes program proposals from the public. Priority is given to programs that complement the library's collections, services, goals and strategic directives.

We take into consideration the interests of the local community, the suitability of the library's physical space and a program's contribution to the library's overall schedule of events.

Library programs are usually arranged 6 to 12 months in advance and must be open and free to the public.

The library does not allow commercial advertising and direct solicitation. Business professionals giving information sessions do not receive an honorarium, but may provide a business card or contact information to audience members who request it.

In the case of Program Proposals with Indigenous content, TPL takes an Indigenous-led approach. Program Proposals that include the following content need to be Indigenous-led:

Note: Toronto Public Library does not provide references or testimonials to presenters/performers who deliver programs. A confirmation of services is available on request.

Health & Safety

TPL has established a Mandatory Vaccination Policy for TPL staff. The policy requires all staff to be fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine. TPL has also established a COVID-19 Vaccination Policy for Contractors. As a result, all contractors to TPL are required to be fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine series, and are required to provide a Letter of Attestation to their vaccination status to provide services to TPL. TPL remains committed to taking every precaution reasonable to protect the health and safety of its staff and volunteers against COVID-19.

The requirement to comply with other public health measures will also continue, such as the use of masks and physical distancing, in accordance with City of Toronto By-law 541-2020 and O. Reg. 364/20.

Submit a Proposal

If you are interested in submitting a proposal, please complete the Program Proposal Application online.

The application will require approximately 30 minutes or more to complete.

Before you begin the application form, it is recommended that you review the application questions (PDF, 434 KB).

A valid Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Reference Check is required for those who will be presenting to vulnerable audiences. Should you require this check you will be contacted. Please see the FAQ for additional details.

Your application will be considered by program planning staff and retained on file for 2 years.

TPL cannot respond to all proposals. Approval of a previous program proposal does not guarantee that an organization or individual will be asked to offer the program or have future proposals approved.

Due to high volume, we will only contact you if a branch is interested in booking your program.
