Annie Pootoogook is part of the recent generation of artists depicting contemporary life in the North. Country food like seal and whale tail is cut with an ulu and eaten on the ground, but in this case, it happens in a home with many ‘mod cons’. This work sits in contrast to a journal from 1822 illustrating the interior of an igloo. The ulu however, is also present.
