Piano Practice Rooms

Need a place to practice the piano? Four library branches have facilities available free of charge: North York Central Library, Oakwood Village Library and Arts Centre, Parkdale and Toronto Reference Library.

All can be booked in advance.

North York Central Library

Piano Room

One piano in the Piano Room on the 2nd Floor (Creation Loft).

Booking: The room can be booked for 1 hour per day per person, in predetermined time slots (users can keep the room for longer if no one is waiting). Book in person in the Fabrication Studio on the 2nd floor, or by calling 416-395-5654.

A valid Toronto Public Library card is required to book the Piano Room.

Reservations may be made up to 7 days in advance. Reservations are held for 10 minutes so please make sure you arrive on time. Maximum room occupancy is 2 people.

At the end of the session, you need to lock the room and return the key to the Fabrication Studio before picking up your library card.

Digital Piano Lab

Five Yamaha Arius YDP-164 pianos in the Digital Piano Lab on the 2nd Floor (Creation Loft).

Booking: The digital pianos can be booked for 1 hour per day per person, in predetermined time slots (users can extend their time for longer if no one is waiting). Book in person in the Fabrication Studio on the 2nd floor, or by calling 416-395-5654.

A valid Toronto Public Library card is required, and customers need to sign the DIH Equipment Loan Agreement Form to book the digital pianos.

Reservations may be made up to 7 days in advance. Reservations are held for 10 minutes so please make sure you arrive on time. Maximum of one user per piano.

If you borrow our headphones, please return them at the end of the session.

Oakwood Village Library and Arts Centre

One Yamaha electric piano, in a meeting room on the lower level, available for booking during library hours with a buffer period after/prior to opening & closing.

Booking: When the adjacent auditorium is not in use, customers may book up to 2 hours per day, to a maximum of twice within a seven day period, with a valid library card OR identification and a personal information chit. One adult customer at a time. Minors need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Call the branch at 416-394-1040 to book the space up to a week in advance.

Parkdale

Booking: When the room is not in use, patrons may book up to 2 hours per day to a maximum of 2 hours per week. Call 416-393-7686.

Toronto Reference Library

Two Yamaha electric piano keyboards are available in non-soundproofed practice rooms in the Arts department on the 5th floor. Headphone use is required.

Booking: Customers may use a keyboard for one session of up to 60 minutes per day. Bookings may be made up to 7 days in advance. Please call the Arts Information Desk to book a session at 416-393-7157.
