Friends of the Osborne and Lillian H. Smith Collections

Established in 1966 and enjoys a worldwide membership.

Application For Membership and/or Donation

Annual activities include the publication of books pertaining to the Collections. Such important manuscripts as the earliest extant version of The Three Bears (1831), Walter Crane's delicate water-colour drawings done in 1870 as a keepsake for his daughter and a collection of original picture-letters written from 1924 to 1943 by Beatrix Potter have been reproduced in facsimile.

Membership in the Friends provides opportunities to assist in preserving, vitalizing and extending the heritage of the past for generations of the future. Join us and share a mutual concern and enthusiasm for historical and contemporary children's literature through your contributions of time, ideas and support. Your participation facilitates research and attracts gifts and bequests of materials and funds that can provide that margin of excellence towards exceptional acquisitions, publications, exhibitions and publicity for this nationally and internationally renowned resource. We welcome your membership.

Memberships are renewable annually.

Any profits from the sale of publications are used to fund Friends' ongoing publishing program. To apply, please print and fill in the attached application form and forward, together with the appropriate membership fees, to the address listed at the top of the form.

Donations

Contributions to the Osborne Collection of $10.00 and over qualify for a tax receipt.

Donors who have given $100 or more will be thanked in the spring newsletter.

Donors who have given $1,000 or more will have their names inscribed annually in our Benefactors' Book. Please advise us if you wish to remain anonymous.

Donations may be given as a series of postdated cheques.

Cheques and donations to the Friends' Trust Fund are payable to "Friends of Osborne", cheques for other contributions are payable to "Osborne Collection, Toronto Public Library".

When making a donation, please fill in and send the membership and/or donation form with your cheque to the address listed on the form.

Donors who have contributed to the Osborne Collection online cataloguing project are recognized on a Virtual Wall.
