Special Collections of the Toronto Public Library

Genealogy and Local History Collection

The Special Collections, Genealogy and Maps Centre, located on theRichard Playter House, Playter Cres fourth floor of the Toronto Reference Library, is home to an extensive collection of genealogical resources. While the strength of this collection is its Canadian content, you'll also find numerous resources for Great Britain, Ireland and the United States, particularly the northeastern states. Genealogical material on other countries is limited.

Genealogical resources are not available for borrowing but intended for use in the library only. You may need to provide identification, such as a library card or driver's license, in order to use certain items.

The Special Collections Centre provides reference service to help people use the collections independently.
