The North York Central Library's Canadiana Department is home to many reference collections on the historical and cultural development of Canada.
- Canadian history
Native peoples, railways, business history and other topics
- Canadian literature
Fiction, pulp fiction, poetry, drama, literary magazines and related critical works published before 1990
- Canadian art and architecture
Books, magazines, criticism and exhibition catalogues published before 1990
- Book arts
Works published by small and private presses in the 1960s and 1970s showing the art of fine bookbinding, papermaking, printing and illustration.
- Archival material
Some private papers, including the correspondence of Newton MacTavish and John Alexander Cooper
Some materials must be viewed on microfilm or microfiche.
Many items in the Canadiana Collection are listed in Toronto Public Library's catalogue. Specialized catalogues, indexes and finding aids to additional information in the collections are available at the library.
