Business & Urban Affairs Department - Job Searching
Staff in the Business & Urban Affairs Department assist job searchers in finding company and industry information, researching the labour market and locating job postings. Staff also direct job searchers to community agencies that provide services such as career counseling, qualifications assessment, assistance with accreditation and English language upgrading. Check our catalogue for books, videos, and audio cassettes on resume writing, cover letter writing, occupations, career strategies and job searching techniques. Many of these items are available for borrowing from the Business & Urban Affairs Department. The Business & Urban Affairs Department houses an extensive collection of Canadian company directories in print format. Company directories are also available in electronic format as CD-ROMs or on the Web. The Scott's Ontario Business Directory on CD-ROM, covering companies in Toronto, the GTA and Southwestern Ontario, is available for use in the Library. Career Bookmarks Toronto Public Library's interactive career and job search web gateway. Create a personal report of Web tools and library resources; develop internet skills for a job hunt using the online tutorial; explore guides on specific audiences and topics. Career Cruising A career guidance resource that has in-depth profiles of hundreds of different careers, career search tools and detailed information on colleges and universities. The Business & Urban Affairs Department houses a selection of university and college calendars for full- and part-time studies. Staff also provide assistance in locating university and college information on the Web. Find information on more than 600 universities, colleges and career colleges. There's also information on campus life, tuition, facilities, services and programs, plus information on scholarships and a guide to career choices.
