Toronto Public Library is preparing plans to improve the branch and conduct necessary repairs to the facility.
The renovation will enhance access to the building and support more efficient operations.
It is expected that the renovation will commence in 2012.
Renovation Features:
- Add 2,672 square feet to allow for separate entrances to the library and the theatre to improve access, way finding and manage congestion and noise levels.
- Complete necessary state of good repair improvements to the theatre, and building entrances, which will support operations of the library and the theatre.
- Improve building accessibility in relevant areas including expanding washroom facilities in the library and the theatre.
- Improve security and management of access to the building.
- Theatre renovations:
- An enclosed theatre box office and refreshment stand
- Improvements to aisle and ramp lighting and accessible seating
- Improvements and better access to the theatre green room, dressing rooms and backstage facilities
Service Enhancements:
- A welcoming entrance to the branch that facilitates way finding and access, including popular collections, displays, lounge and study seating, computer access and meeting rooms.
- Allow for efficient operations, including automating materials check-in and streamlining the sorting of library materials.
