Since 1992, award winning Canadian author Deborah Cooke has written and published over 40 romance novels and novellas. Writing as Deborah Cooke, Claire Delacroix and Claire Cross, she has written contemporary, historical, paranormal, and fantasy romances and her characters include shapeshifters, time travelers, angels, dragons, vampires, and assorted rogues and scoundrels. Deborah has extensive experience teaching romance writing and the business end of writing, both online and in workshops and has been a judge for numerous romance writing contests.

Manuscript Submissions

Writers are invited to submit romance manuscripts to be considered for an individual evaluation and a meeting with Deborah Cooke. Submitting a manuscript does not guarantee a meeting with the Writer in Residence. Meetings are by appointment only.

Manuscripts should be no longer than 50 double-spaced pages and should include:

  • A synopsis of no more than 8 double-spaced pages and sample chapters from the beginning of the book to a total page count of 50 pages per submission
       OR
  • The first 50 pages of the manuscript.

Manuscripts will be accepted from September 1, 2009 to October 16, 2009. However the library reserves the right to limit the number of manuscripts accepted. Please include your name, address, email address and telephone number. There is a limit of one submission per person.
