Borrow a Pedometer
Walking is an easy way to exercise. 10,000 steps a day will increase your physical fitness level and overall health.

The Library can help you on your path to fitness. Visit one of the branch libraries listed below, borrow a pedometer and learn to count the steps to a healthier you. An information package with walking guidelines, a calendar to track progress, a physical activity sheet and other information on walking trails and suggested books to read are all part of the package.

This pedometer lending program is part of the Building Physically Active Communities project. The Toronto Public Health along with the Toronto Public Library, Toronto District School Board, Toronto Catholic District School Board, Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation and community volunteers have partnered to produce and promote walking in Toronto neighbourhoods. Other walking activities are taking place in community centres, Conversation Circles, and adult ESL classes. Walk into Health for a great summer and fall activity.
