This is a FREE, community income tax program offered by volunteers who are trained by the Canada Revenue Agency. The Toronto Jewish Community: A Portrait of Our Past (1900-1930)
Harold Troper presents an illustrated lecture exploring immigrant Jewish life in Toronto from the turn of the last century until the Depression. Using images from the day, he tracks the geographic shift in Jewish immigrant residential concentration from the Ward westward into the Kensington area. He also touches on issues of housing, work, children, street life, organization building, discrimination and social interaction with the non-Jewish community.
