Busy Toronto Library to Receive Much Needed Facelift:
Public Consultation Announced for Cedarbrae Branch Renovation

Members of the public are invited to help shape the upcoming renovation of Cedarbrae Branch, one of Toronto's busiest branches,
by participating in a community consultation meeting on Tuesday, January 23, 2007.

Date: Tuesday January 23, 2007
Time: 7 p.m.  
Place: Cedarbrae Branch, 545 Markham Road

Toronto Public Library staff, local councillor Paul Ainslie and representatives from architectural firm Makrimichalos Cugini
Architects Inc. will be on hand to discuss ideas and suggestions for the branch renovation. Members of the public who are unable to attend the meeting can fill out a comment form, available at the branch or online.

Scheduled to proceed in 2008, the renovation will:
  • Completely redesign the interior space
  • Enhance the library's street presence
  • Enhance study space, reading lounges for adults, teens and children
  • Improve accessibility
  • Provide separate and unique spaces for the multilingual collections, the Rita Cox Black and Caribbean Heritage Collection and the large Local History collection
  • Upgrade mechanical and electrical systems
