ESL (English as a Second Language) Library Materials

The Toronto Public Library keeps extensive collections of books and other tools for studying English as a Second Language (ESL). Many of our 99 libraries across the city offer ESL materials for people who want to learn English, or improve their speaking, reading, writing and understanding of the language. There's also a major ESL collection at the Toronto Reference Library's Languages Centre. Locations of all large collections are listed below.

The Toronto Reference Library offers learners a large and well-equipped Languages Centre. Some of the centre's most widely used materials belong to the ESL section.

There are more than 50 dictionaries for your use in the library, and more than 2000 items to borrow. The language learning lab invites you to use videotapes, audiocassettes and other tools for interactive learning.
