ESL Classes and Class Visits to the Library

 



To register for ESL classes at a library you:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant or refugee or refugee claimant
  • Must bring identification and proof of your status in Canada to your first class
  • Might have to bring $10-$20 to your first class to cover the cost of books and other material

ESL Classes for Visitors Willing to Pay

Visitors to Canada and visa students can take full-time and part-time English classes at all levels for a small fee. Check with the Toronto District Schol Board, the Toronto Catholic School Board, and other schools that have ESL. For private ESL schools, look under "schools-language" in the Yellow Pages.

ESL Class Visits to the Library

ESL teachers are welcome to bring their classes to the library for a tour.

Most libraries host ESL visits to:

  • Show ESL students the services at the Toronto Public Library
  • Register new library users
  • Encourage students to become regular library users
