The Toronto Reference Library - Urban Affairs Library

Located in Metro Hall at King and John Streets, the Urban Affairs Library focuses on municipal subjects such as architecture and urban design, economic development, and municipal government and services. It includes in-depth coverage of the Toronto area.

Formats collected include books and government documents, maps, newspaper clippings, pamphlets, video cassettes, community newspapers, and CD-ROM indexes.

SPECIAL MATERIALS
Campaign Literature and Voters Lists
Campaign literature for candidates running in the Toronto municipal elections from 1969 to the present. Voters lists for selected years of Toronto municipal elections up to 1994.

Campaign to Save the Old City Hall Microfiche collection of original documents and papers.

Maps
General collection of land use, transit, parks and bicycle maps for Toronto. Aerial photographs, planimetric and property data maps.

Newspapers
Selected community newspapers. Holdings are listed in TPL catalogue, and in Brian Gilchrist's Inventory of Ontario Newspapers, 1793 - 1986, Toronto: Micromedia, 1987.

Vertical Files
Pamphlets as well as current and retrospective newspaper clippings from the Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail, on municipal and urban topics from as far back as the 1940s.

RESTRICTIONS
Toronto Reference Library material is for in-library use only. Fragile material cannot be photocopied. Original directories and newspapers cannot be photocopied.

PHOTOGRAPHIC SERVICE
For the user who needs a reproduction from library material beyond the normal photocopy, the library's Photographic Service can provide high quality photographic reproductions.
