Thorncliffe Branch is Closed for Major Renovation & Expansion Project
Dufferin/St. Clair Library

On Saturday, December 8, 2007 the Thorncliffe Branch closed for a major renovation and expansion. Building improvements to the 37 year old building are in partnership with the City of Toronto's Parks, Forestry and Recreation Division and the City of Toronto's Children's Services Division. The renovation will also include an expansion of the day care and the Jenner Jean-Marie Community Centre, all located within the same building.

The library renovation will:

  • Double the branch size from 5,000 to 10,000 square feet
  • Add a new community room for meetings, programs and quiet study
  • Add KidsStop, an interactive centre designed to develop pre-literacy skills in children
  • Introduce wireless high speed Internet access 
  • Add a new Teen zone
  • Add a new adult reading lounge
  • Install express check out.

 

Alternate library service during closure:

During the closure, library customers can return materials to any Toronto Public Library Branch and pick up holds at:

  • Flemingdon Park Branch, 29 St. Dennis Drive, 416-395-5820
  • Customers may also ask staff to change pick-up location to any Toronto Public Library branch.

 

Bookmobile Service:

  • Toronto Public Library's Bookmobile service will begin on January 2, 2008: Wednesdays, 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon and Sundays, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the East York Town Centre, north east corner, near the Esso gas station on Overlea Drive.
