Historical Background

1951
Bookmobile service for the Eatonville neighbourhood is provided by the Township of Etobicoke Public Library Board with stops at Bloor and Poplar, Saturdays 11:00 to 12:30 am, and at Burnhamthorpe and Meadowbank, Fridays 10:30 to 11:30 am. In 1952, the latter stop is moved to Burnhhamthorpe Road And Shaver Avenue.

1964
Opened by the Etobicoke Public Library Board, March. Elken & Becksted Architects.

1967
Eatonville Branch is taken over by the new Borough of Etobicoke Public Library Board formed when the Township of Etobicoke becomes part of the Borough of Etobicoke effective 1 January.

2000
Closed for reconstruction, 27 March.

2001
Branch reopened 4 June. Stephen Teeple Architect.

Sunday opening initiated, 9 September.

2002
Ontario Association of Architects Awards - Honourable Mention.

2003
Toronto Architecture and Urban Design Award - Building Award of Excellence.

2005
Hours open per week increased from 57 hour to 58 hours, 6 September.

2007
New hours, 8 January. Open hours per week increased from 58 to 62.
