Historical Background

1969
Woodbine Gardens Branch officially opened by the East York Public Library Board, April. Located in Harmony Hall, Gower Street near Dawes Road. Harmony Hall was built in 1967 by the East York Barbershop Chorus for their own use and for seniors and other community groups.

1975
Woodbine Gardens branch closed 15 December. Relocated to the present location.

1976,
Dawes Road Branch opened on January 2, 1976, the first library in Canada that is part of a condominium.

2001
Exterior refurbishing by York Condominium Corporations #260.

2002
Closed 20 August for renovation; reopened 17 December.

2007
New hours, 8 January. Open hours per week increased from 48.5 to 50.5.
