Historical Background
1956
Bookmobile stop established near Stop 21 on Kingston Road at Fenwood Heights by the Township of Scarborough Public Library Board. It also plans to open a branch library to serve the "thickly populated section of Cliffside in the south".
1970
Scarborough Public Library Board approved "in principle the establishment of a branch library in the Cliffcrest Plaza dependent on the availability of funds," 19 February.
1972
Opened at 2977 Kingston Road, Cliffcrest Plaza, 2 October.
1994
New hours, 4 January. Hours open per week decreased from 47 to 40.
1998
Became part of the Toronto Public Library with municipal amalgamation, 1 January.
2001
Refurbished.
2007
New hours, 8 January. Number of open hours per week unchanged.
2008
Closed, 1 March and relocated to a larger unit in Cliffcrest Plaza (3017 Kingston Road); reopened on 3 April. McKinnon Design. It is Toronto Public Library's first "browsing branch" with open-facing shelving (similar to retail stores) to display popular books, magazines, and audio-visual materials and reading lounges to browse items.
