Historical Background

1918
Agincourt Association Library established 19 November. A small book collection placed in a vacant room in the Agincourt Continuation School.

1925
Agincourt Association Library constructed its own public library building on the west side of Church Street (now Midland Avenue) just north of Main Street (now Sheppard Avenue East), opposite Knox United Church. Opened 14 October.

1955
Taken over by the newly-formed Public Library Board of the Township of Scarborough, becoming one of its first three branches. Officially opened 1 October.

1965
Relocated to a former hardware store on the west side of Midland Avenue, just south of Sheppard Avenue, operating here from 1965 to 1967.

1967
Agincourt Neighbourhood Branch relocated to the Agincourt Mall, March.

1991
Agincourt Neighbourhood Branch Library in Agincourt Mall closed, 31 August. Agincourt District Library officially opened in present location, 5 November. Baldwin & Franklin Architects. Recipient of an Urban Design Award, presented by the Scarborough Planning Board under the sponsorship of Scarborough Council.

1999
Sunday opening initiated 21 March.

2007
Hours open per week increased on 8 January from 60 to 62.
