Historical Background

1971
Officially opened by the Scarborough Public Library Board, 29 September. Fairfield and Dubois Architects. Named in honour of Albert ("Ab") McTaggart Campbell (1910-1973), the first mayor of the City of Scarborough.

1972
Recipient of a Certificate of Architectural Merit, awarded by the Scarborough Planning Board.

1994
Weekly service hours reduced from 63.5 to 60, beginning January 4.

1996
Recipient of a Trillium Award for outstanding contribution to the beauty of Scarborough, presented by the Agincourt Garden Club, the Scarborough Historical Society, and the City of Scarborough Recreation and Parks Department.

1999
Sunday opening initiated 17 October.

2007
Hours open per week increased on 8 January from 60 to 62.
