Historical Background

1965
Albion Mall Branch opened by the Etobicoke Public Library Board in a rented facility in the Albion Mall Shopping Centre, at 1530 Albion Road, west of Kipling Avenue, 23 October. First library in Etobicoke located in a shopping mall.

1967
Albion Mall Branch is taken over by the new Borough of Etobicoke Public Library Board formed when the Township of Etobicoke becomes part of the Borough of Etobicoke effective 1 January.

1970
Relocated to larger quarters in a renovated and enlarged Shoppers World Albion. Feasibility study conducted for a proposed district library on Albion Road.

1973
Albion District Library opened in current location, May. Matsui, Baer, Heidmin and Vanstone Architects.

2001
Le@rning Centre created.

2007
Hours open per week increased on 8 January from 58 to 63.
