Renew Library Materials by Phone

New, easier to use telephone renewals. All you need is your library card. Get a list of your items on loan, check their due dates and renew directly from the list.

New Hours: 8 a.m. to 3 a.m., 7 days a week

Call 416-395-5505

You can use a rotary or touch-tone phone. This is an automated service. Please have ready your library card number and the barcode numbers of the items you want to renew.

You can renew an item twice with the exception of music scores and picture collections which can be renewed once.

What you can't renew:

  • items already renewed twice
  • items someone else has placed on hold
  • items from a Best Bets collection
  • items borrowed through the Interlibrary Loan Dept.
  • new English feature film DVDs (less than 6-months old)
  • when you have reached the limit allowed for overdue items, lost items, or fines you will be unable to renew any items
