Letterpress on paper label laid down below print: HON. PETER ROBINSON / Representative of the east riding of York in the Provincial Parliament, 1817-20, afterwards member / of the Legislative Council. In 1827 he was appointed Commissioner of Crown Lands; which position he / held until his death in 1838. He was a brother of the late Chief Justice Sir John Beverley Robinson; Acc. JRR 637 (Repro T 15128) is a photograph, c.1915, cropped and col. With w.c., probably of would-be Acc. JRR (1912) 57; Robinson was elected to the House of Assembly in 1816. He was Upper Canada's first commissioner of crown lands, 1827-1836; Peterborough (Ont.) was named for him
