Summary/Review: "In this one-of-a-kind, wordless picture book, a child is making her way home from school, imagining what's behind the windows of the houses and other buildings she passes. And that's where the fun begins. Think The Way Home in the Night meets M. C. Escher ... in Wonderland! When the book opens, we see the little girl through a window at school, daydreaming at her desk. Then we follow the girl on her walk home, past houses, shops and other buildings. Along the way, we come to a window--just a window. What's on the other side of it? There's only one way to find out: open the gatefold and see! There are thirteen windows to open, and behind each, a fantastical scene is revealed--an indoor jungle, a whale in a bathtub, vampires playing badminton ... Behind the very last window, we see the child in her own home. Each window contains a clue to what's behind it--e.g. for the "Jungle," a couple plants sit on the window ledge; for the "Bath," the window is round, like a porthole. Each whimsical scene is intricately drawn in black and white and packed with amusing details for readers to explore. A joyous celebration of curiosity and imagination."--
