Summary/Review: In 1974, Marvel Comics publisher Stan Lee and underground pioneer Denis Kitchen collaborated on Comix Book, an experimental "hybrid" magazine intended to distribute underground comix to a wider mainstream audience. Initially published by Marvel (under the Magazine Management Co. imprint, with the Curtis Magazines logo) and after its cancellation by Kitchen Sink Press, the series showcased a number of the top underground cartoonists during its five-issue run. This collection contains many never-before-reprinted comics, as well as an essay by James Vance illustrated with correspondence, photos, and unpublished artwork from Kitchen's archives.
