Fairview Community Branch opened in rental space at 5 Fairview Mall Drive. Rental space is located next to the 1.964 acre site on which the Fairview Regional Branch Library is to be constructed. Site was purchased by the Library Board from Fairview Corporation. |

Construction completed 27 May. Brook-Carruthers-Shaw Architects. Community Theatre with seating for 292 patrons. |
1982 |
Fairview moves to an automated circulation system (ULISYS) and closes for five weeks beginning in June to "link" its entire collection. Operational 13 September. |

Audio Visual and Public Relations and Planning Departments move from Fairview to interim quarters outside Fairview prior to new opening of new Central Library. |

Administration Services move from 4th floor of Fairview Library to new quarters at Central Library; Canadiana Collection and staff move from 3rd floor of Fairview Library to new quarters at Central Library. |
